SPOILER ALERT: There are spoilers ahead for GoT fans. If you aren't caught up on the series, turn away now.
The "Game of Thrones" series finale is on Sunday, and many are weighing in on who will sit on the iron throne to end the show. That includes some prominent sports figures, and Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce was one of them.
When asked on Twitter who would take the throne in tonight's finale, Pierce offered a somewhat surprising choice. He went with the plucky underdog, Arya Stark, as his choice to rule.
Arya will take the throne tonight sorry for the spoiler 😳 https://t.co/O82EeqLKn4— Paul Pierce (@paulpierce34) May 19, 2019
It's easy to see why Pierce likes Stark to win the throne. She is a fan favorite and has endured quite a bit on her journey through the show and famously killed The Night King, which destroyed the army of the dead. Most recently, she was able to survive the burning of King's Landing despite several very close calls with dragon fire.
Many expect that Stark's brother, Jon Snow (also known as Aegon Targaryen), is the favorite to take the throne, but it truly is anyone's game. So, Pierce could end up being correct.
Of course, it's important to take Pierce's prediction with a grain of salt, as his last bold declaration wasn't such a good one. After Game 1 of the Celtics-Bucks series, Pierce essentially declared it over after the Celtics victory. The Bucks would go on to win the next four consecutive games and eliminate the C's from the postseason.
