Putting Celtics' 140-point outburst vs. Wizards into nostalgic perspective

Fair warning: If you were alive 27 years ago, you're about to feel very old.

The Boston Celtics dropped 140 points on the Washington Wizards at TD Garden on Wednesday night en route to their ninth consecutive win.

That's a lot of points. In fact, that's the most points the Celtics have scored in any game since ... 1992.

The date was Nov. 25, 1992, to be exact, as the C's rolled to a 150-112 win over this same Washington franchise — then known as the Bullets — at the old Boston Garden.

Now, time to feel old. Here's the full list of current Celtics players who were alive when that game went down:

- Brad Wanamaker (3 years old)
- Gordon Hayward (2 years old)
- Kemba Walker (2 years old)
- Daniel Theis (7 months old)
- Enes Kanter (6 months old)

That's it. The other 12 members of the Celtics didn't exist in 1992, including rookie Romeo Langford, who wouldn't be born for another seven years.

Few other NBA teams can say the same, as the C's boast one of the youngest rosters in the league with an average age of 25.1. But those who were around in 1992 — or simply appreciate history — may get a kick out of the Celtics' box score, courtesy of Basketball Reference:

The 1992-93 season was the Celtics' first without Larry Bird since 1979 and represented a "changing of the guard:" Robert Parish still started but an aging Kevin McHale came off the bench, as newcomers like Reggie Lewis, Dee Brown and Xavier McDaniel took the torch from Boston's 1980s dynasty.

This win actually was one of the Celtics' high points of the season. The C's finished as the Eastern Conference's No. 4 seed and lost the Charlotte Hornets in the first round of the playoffs.

The 2019-20 Celtics seem destined for a different fate after beginning the season 9-1, their best start since their 2007-08 championship campaign. But they might want to shore up that defense.
