Report: C's assistant coach Jerome Allen expected to interview with Blazers

The Boston Celtics are not the only team in need of a new head coach.

The Portland Trail Blazers also have a vacant head coaching job to fill after mutually parting ways with Terry Stots this week after his nine-year run with the Western Conference franchise.

One of the Celtics' assistant coaches, Jerome Allen, is expected to interview for Stotts' old job, according to Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe.

Allen was the head coach at the University of Pennsylvania from 2009 to 2015 before joining the Celtics' staff under head coach Brad Stevens. Stevens replaced Danny Ainge as the Celtics' president of basketball operations earlier this week, which resulted in Boston's need for a new head coach.

If Allen does interview with the Blazers, he is likely to have plenty of competition for the job. Los Angeles Lakers assistant Jason Kidd and Los Angeles Clippers assistant Chauncey Billups are also expected to interview for the position, per The Athletic.
