Report: Celtics fan gets two-year ban for muttering racial slur at DeMarcus Cousins

A Celtics fan reportedly received a two-year ban for directing a racial slur at Warriors center DeMarcus Cousins.

The incident occurred when the Warriors visited TD Garden on January 26, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

"During that game, there was a fan who muttered the n-word at DeMarcus Cousins," Haynes said. "I was told DeMarcus informed one of the team security guys and they got ahold of the security team there at TD Garden. They took care of the fan, but I was told that ultimately that that fan was banned for the rest of this season and next year."

Earlier this month, Thunder guard Russell Westbrook and a fan in Utah were involved in a verbal altercation in which Westbrook accused the fan of using racial taunts. The Jazz organization handed the fan a lifetime ban.

This isn't the first time this kind of incident has occurred at a sporting event in Boston, either. In 2017, then-Orioles outfielder Adam Jones accused fans at Fenway Park of using racist terms and throwing a peanut bag at him.
