Veteran sharpshooter Joe Johnson will sign with the Houston Rockets, ESPN Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Johnson, 36, is expected to have his contract bought out by the Sacramento Kings on Saturday, clear waivers by Monday and then sign with Houston. He was traded from the Utah Jazz to Sacramento before the deadline on Thursday.

He had averaged 7.3 points and 3.3 rebounds for Utah as a bench player this season. The Celtics were interested in adding Johnson's three-point shooting ability (he's made 1,961 3's in his career and is a 37-percent shooter from long range) off their bench. Johnson was originally drafted by the Celtics with the 10th pick overall in 2001 out of Arkansas.
