Report: LeBron to switch jersey numbers after Space Jam release

A new legacy apparently means a new number for LeBron James next season.

James reportedly is expected to change his jersey number from No. 23 back to No. 6 after the release of his movie "Space Jam: A New Legacy" next month.

James had previously switched from No. 23 to No. 6 when he left the Cleveland Cavaliers to join the Miami Heat in 2010.

He then switched back to No. 23 upon returning to Cleveland in 2014 and kept the number when he joined the Los Angeles Lakers four years later.

Anthony Davis, who wore No. 23 during his first seven seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans and one collegiate season with the Kentucky Wildcats, is expected to stick with No. 3 on the Lakers.

Lakers legend Kobe Bryant also changed his jersey from No. 8 to his high school number No. 24 ahead of the 2006-07 season. Bryant is the only player in NBA history to have two different numbers retired by the same team.
