Report: Marcus Morris hasn’t ruled out re-signing with Celtics in free agency

The Boston Celtics are dealing with some major question marks that could have a major impact on their starting lineup. It really started when reports came out that Kyrie Irving was preparing to sign with the Brooklyn Nets. Then, the Los Angeles Lakers pulled off a trade for Anthony Davis, and now Kyrie to could consider joining the Lakers. Either way, it looks unlikely that he will return to Boston.

Additionally, Al Horford still hasn't decided whether or not to opt into the final year of his contract, valued at $30.1 million.

The team is also facing uncertainty regarding the status of free agent forward, Marcus Morris. However, according to Keith Smith of Yahoo Sports, Morris hasn't ruled out returning to the Celtics in free agency.

Also told this morning that unrestricted free agent Marcus Morris has not ruled out re-signing with the Celtics as a free agent. He enjoyed his time in Boston and knows he'll have a major role if he returns. But Morris fully intends to test the market and see what is out there.

This is far from a guarantee that Morris will return. But, it certainly is a positive that he is at least considering it.

Morris averaged 13.9 points and 6.1 rebounds while shooting 37.5 percent from behind the arc, his highest mark since 2014 (38.1). He also served as a solid, versatile defender and should draw interest on the open market as a 3-and-D player with starting ability.

Morris is due a raise from the $5.375 million he made last season with Boston, and it will be interesting to see just how much he gets on the open market. If the Celtics can bring him back as either a starter or a sixth man, they should certainly consider doing it considering the impact he had on the squad last year.
