Report: Warriors concerned about chemistry after Durant-Draymond dust-up

Kevin Durant's recent comments notwithstanding, the Golden State Warriors reportedly were very concerned about his recent confrontation with Draymond Green.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr and president of basketball operations Bob Myers believed "the entire chemistry of the team was at stake" in the aftermath of Durant's on-court dust-up with Green, The Athletic's Tim Kawakami reported Tuesday, citing league sources.

According to Kawakami, Golden State's decision to quickly suspend Green for his actions was made to protect Durant and "make sure the whole situation didn’t devolve into a series of personal grievances and lingering resentments."

Durant insisted any beef with Green -- who reportedly told him point-blank to leave the team in free agency next summer -- won't impact what he does this offseason. Based on Kawakami's report, though, Warriors decision-makers are very concerned with how the Durant-Green dynamic will affect the club going forward.

It doesn't help that Golden State has lost three straight to slip to third in the Western Conference, although it's still the odds-on NBA title favorite once Stephen Curry (and eventually DeMarcus Cousins) get healthy. But what fireworks await in the offseason -- Durant to the Boston Celtics, who says no? -- are anyone's guess.
