Robert Williams III (lower back contusion) out for rest of Celtics game vs. Hornets

Robert Williams III (lower back contusion) out for rest of Celtics game vs. Hornets

Boston Celtics center Robert Williams III has been ruled out for the remainder of tonight's game against Charlotte after a hard spill in the second quarter.

According to team officials, Williams suffered a lower back contusion.

It is unclear how long Williams will be out of action with the injury.

He joins a growing list of Celtics centers with less-than-ideal health at the moment.

Aron Baynes remains out with a foot injury, and the Celtics opted to rest Al Horford who is suffering from some soreness in his knee.

With the team's injury-riddled frontcourt, Williams III was making his first NBA start tonight and finished with two points, three rebounds and two blocked shots.

The injury occurred with 1:37 to play in the second quarter and Boston trailing 60-59 when Williams III landed hard on his lower back after attempting a put-back dunk. He would lay motionless on his floor for several seconds before a time-out was called and he eventually went to the locker room for further examination.

Danny Ainge details relationship with Michael Jordan before Celtics-Bulls in 1986

Danny Ainge details relationship with Michael Jordan before Celtics-Bulls in 1986

Danny Ainge wasn't a player that would often hang out with opponents during his playing days.

But he did make an exception when it came to Michael Jordan.

In a recent interview with NBC Sports Boston's Brian Scalabrine, Ainge detailed his relationship with Jordan and spoke of a time that the two golfed together ahead of the Celtics-Bulls playoff series in 1986. Here's a look at that interview, per the Celtics on NBC Sports Boston's Twitter account.

"This is the only time ever in my entire career that I had dinner, lunch did anything with an opponent," Ainge said of the meeting with Jordan. "But with Michael, Michael loved golf and I loved golf and Michael reached out and wanted to know where he could find a golf course and maybe get on a golf course to play in Boston on their two off days. So, I think we arranged to play 36 at Framingham Country Club."

Ainge also called Jordan "one competitive son of a gun", a fact well-known to anyone who saw Jordan compete during his playing days.

Nobody will blame Ainge for spending time with Jordan on a day off. After all, the Celtics were still able to sweep the Bulls in the series even despite Jordan averaging a whopping 43.7 points per game. So, it doesn't seem like either side picked up many tips and tricks about how to slow the other down.

NBC Sports Boston will be re-airing Game 2 of that Celtics-Bulls series on Sunday night at 7 p.m. Tune in to watch Jordan drop an NBA playoff-record 63 points while the C's rode a balanced effort to an overtime victory.

Enes Kanter eats marshmallows off a treadmill in hilarious TikTok video

If you've been couped up in your home during the COVID-19 pandemic, chances are you've struggled to come up with ways to keep yourself entertained.

Enes Kanter doesn't appear to be having that problem, however.

The Boston Celtics big man has been posting some hilarious videos on TikTok recently, but his latest may take the cake. Kanter spent some of his time in quarantine lining up some mini marshmallows on a treadmill and attempting to get all of them into his mouth.

Bonus points for using the Super Mario 64 soundtrack. Let's just hope the treadmill was wiped down beforehand.

Boston athletes have been all over TikTok since the sports world was put on hold. Boston Red Sox left fielder Andrew Benintendi and Celtics rookie Tacko Fall, in particular, have made some notable videos recently.

Kanter discussed what he's been up to during his quarantine in the latest episode of The Enes Kanter Show. Subscribe and listen here.
