Terry Rozier is ‘pissed off' and wants to prove himself with Hornets

Terry Rozier quickly will fall out of place with Boston Celtics fans, and his latest comments could explain why.

Rozier is set to become a full-time starter for the first time in his NBA career this season. He'll either make the most of it, or squander the opportunity. Regardless, though, he seems eager to make a lasting impression with the Charlotte Hornets.

“I’m pissed off about a lot of stuff,” Rozier told The Charlotte Observer. “I want to prove myself again.”

He's obviously not happy with how he was utilized in the Celtics' lineup over the years, constantly being put on the back burner to guys like Isaiah Thomas and Kyrie Irving. It seems like that anger could be enough to fuel the fire and prepare Rozier for the best year of his career.

Kemba Walker was a staple in the Hornets' lineup for years, and Charlotte fans were disappointed when Walker decided to leave the organization over the summer to sign with the Celtics. Although they're still mourning the loss of Walker, Rozier is ready to make a name for himself.

“I’m not Kemba. I’m not coming in here acting like I’m Kemba. I’m Terry,” Rozier said.

“I respect the hell out of Kemba: When I play against him, I’m going to give him my best, and I know I’ll get his best. But Kemba? I don’t want to hear it. Don’t talk to me about Kemba.”

Walker was acquired by the Celtics in a sign-and-trade agreement with the Hornets in July that sent Rozier and a 2020 second-round pick to Charlotte.

Rozier's comments definitely will bring tension to the court when the Celtics visit the Hornets for the first time during the regular season on Nov. 7. The C's will take on Charlotte three times this coming season, with just one matchup set to take place at TD Garden.
