After music legend and actor Kenny Rogers died Friday at 81, the tributes poured in from across social media.

Our favorite was from former NBA player Rex Chapman, whose Twitter feed itself is a thing to behold.

And the Celtics connection? Larry Bird (and Michael Jordan and Dominque Wilkins, among others) playing in a 1988 celebrity round-robin tournament with Rogers in terrific footage that Chapman tweeted, with a hat tip from NBA history podcaster Adam Ryan (@hisairnness), who found the clip initially.

There's $400,000 on the line for charity, so the NBA legends are going if not all-out, at least semi-hard (ignore Bird's jumper getting stuck in the rafters). The late, great Hall of Fame Lakers broadcaster Chick Hearn is on the call.

Rogers looks pretty good as he drains a 21-footer over Jordan.

But it's Bird, wearing No. 32? (A Magic Johnson tribute?) with teammate John McEnroe, the tennis legend, and his Green team that comes away victorious in the end. We're hoping The Gambler - that's Rogers, not Jordan - knew when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em when competing against Larry Legend.
