How Tatum fared in USA's Olympic quarterfinal win vs. Spain

The United States men's basketball team is one step closer to a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics after a 95-81 win over Spain in the quarterfinals Tuesday.

Team USA will play Australia in the semifinals Thursday at 12:15 a.m. ET. Slovenia will play France in the other semifinal Thursday.

Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant led the Americans with 29 points on 10-for-17 shooting in 31 minutes. Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum came off the bench to score 13 points on 4-for-7 shooting with three rebounds, two assists and one steal in 18 minutes.

Tatum was effective when it mattered most -- scoring 10 of his 13 points in the fourth quarter as Team USA pulled away. In fact, at one point Tatum scored or assisted on 11 straight points in the fourth quarter.

After losing the first preliminary round game to France, the United States has won three straight games. The U.S. needs two more victories to secure a fourth consecutive gold medal in men's Olympic basketball.
