The Clinic was open in Charlotte on Sunday night.

Trailing the Hornets by one point with 2.1 seconds remaining at the Spectrum Center, the Detroit Pistons needed a miracle to end their 15-game head-to-head losing streak against Charlotte.

Celtics-Pacers takeaways: Threes bury C's in blowout loss

Enter former Boston Celtics forward Kelly Olynyk, who played unexpected hero by cashing a fadeaway jumper at the buzzer in overtime to seal Detroit's 127-126 win.

Olynyk has appeared in just 24 games for the Pistons this season, averaging 9.5 points on 40.3% shooting. But Celtics fans will recall that Olynyk has some experience in big moments: He famously went off for 26 points in Game 7 of the 2017 Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Washington Wizards, scoring 14 of those points in the fourth quarter to help Boston win the series.

The Celtics landed Olynyk with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft after a pick swap with the Dallas Mavericks, and while he didn't live up to lottery-pick billing, the big man was a solid frontcourt presence in Boston, averaging 9.5 points and 4.7 rebounds over four seasons with the C's.

Now in his ninth NBA season with his fourth NBA team, Olynyk is still finding ways to contribute -- and get paid. He's on a three-year deal with the Pistons worth $37.2 million.
