Celtics-Magic postponed; Friday game in jeopardy

The Boston Celtics won't be playing basketball anytime soon.

The Celtics' home game against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday has been postponed, the NBA announced Tuesday.

Boston hasn't played since last Friday after its Sunday game against the Miami Heat and its Tuesday game against the Chicago Bulls were both postponed due to health and safety protocols.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Magic didn't travel to Boston on Wednesday. The teams are set to play again Friday at TD Garden, so it's unclear whether that game will be postponed, as well.

Celtics star Jayson Tatum reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend, while several C's players are in quarantine due to contact tracing, including Jaylen Brown, Tristan Thompson, Grant Williams, Robert Williams, Semi Ojeleye and Javonte Green.

Thompson, Grant Williams and Robert Williams began their minimum seven-day quarantines last Friday, so it's possible they could be cleared to play by the weekend. The Celtics need a minimum of eight players active in order to play a game.

Boston was performing well before its season hit pause, winning three games in a row to improve to an Eastern Conference-best 7-3.
