Williams a Summer League game-time decision tonight for Celtics

LAS VEGAS - Celtics Summer League coach Jay Larranaga and Robert Williams told reporters this morning that the 6-foot-10 top pick of the C's will be a game-time decision tonight against the Denver Nuggets.

Williams, drafted with the 27th overall pick last month, had a knee-to-knee collision in the first quarter of Boston’s 95-89 victory over Philadelphia on Friday.

Coming off the Celtics bench, Williams had four points on 2-for-4 shooting along with two rebounds while playing six minutes prior to the injury, which kept him out for the remainder of the game.

Williams said after the game the injury irritated the tendinitis in his knee and was kept out of the game as a precaution.

His play will be closely watched for several reasons.

Boston is in the market for a fourth big man and it looks like it’ll be either Williams or Guerschon Yabusele.

Williams’ injury afforded more opportunities for Yabusele against the Sixers and, to his credit, he made the most of his chance.

He shared team-high scoring honors (16 points) with Semi Ojeleye, but Yabusele’s night included a big 3-pointer late in the game that proved to be one of the biggest plays of the game.
