The NBA season has been put on hold for at least 30 days due to the coronavirus crisis, meaning we may have to wait until mid-April at the earliest to watch the Boston Celtics again.
As a way to make up for the loss of Celtics action, we'll be using the NBA 2K20 video game to simulate each game on Boston's schedule until they finally return to action.
The Celtics were scheduled to host the Washington Wizards on Friday night before the NBA opted to suspend the season. We simulated the matchup and got some interesting results.
If you missed our last simulation vs. the Milwaukee Bucks, you can check that out here.
Here's how the C's-Wizards sim went:
Make it back-to-back 30-plus point performances for Kemba Walker as the Celtics star dropped 33 in this one vs. Washington. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to propel his team to victory in this game either.
Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum were the only other efficient scorers for the C's as they dropped 17 and 16 points respectively and combined to shoot 13-of-24 from the field.
Daniel Theis didn't get much done offensively, but he did provide a rock-solid defensive presence with nine rebounds and six blocks.
Brad Wanamaker was the only notable scorer off the Celtics bench as he put up 10 in 11 minutes.
Boston's defense struggled again, as it allowed Wizards star Bradley Beal to go off for 28 points on 12-for-22 shooting (4-for-6 beyond the arc).
Five other Wizards players were in double figures as well, including rookie Rui Hachimura, who contributed 17 points while adding nine rebounds.
The glaring issues here for the Celtics were poor free-throw shooting (4-for-12), bench points (only 19), and defensive boards (outrebounded, 42-32).
FINAL SCORE: Wizards 113, Celtics 103
That marks a two-game losing streak for the C's as they fell 135-116 in our last sim vs. the Milwaukee Bucks.
