BOSTON - A.J. Dillon ran for 149 yards and a touchdown, and Boston College extended its surprising turnaround with a third straight victory, beating Florida State 35-3 on Friday night for its first win over the Seminoles since 2009.
Anthony Brown threw for one touchdown and ran for another, and Jeff Smith threw for a TD on a flanker option. Just two years removed from a winless Atlantic Coast Conference season, the Eagles (5-4, 3-3) have now won three straight ACC games for the first time since 2013.
BC students stormed the field after the victory - the first home conference win the senior class was able to see. The Eagles had won just one home ACC game since 2013, and it was during Thanksgiving break.
It was the most points the Eagles have ever scored against Florida State. The Seminoles (2-5, 2-4) fell three games below .500 for the first time since Bobby Bowden's first season in 1976.
Brown completed 6 of 20 passes for 54 yards, including an 11-yard TD pass to Tommy Sweeney that made it 14-0 early in the second quarter. Brown also ran for a 4-yard score that made it 21-0 midway through the second.
Nyqwan Murray caught three passes for 102 yards for Florida State, which failed to score a touchdown for the first time since 2008 - 124 games ago. James Blackman completed 11 of 26 passes for 102 yards.
Boston College reportedly is close to hiring its new head football coach.
After parting ways with Steve Addazio earlier this month, the Eagles are close to replacing him with Ohio State defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, according to Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports.

Hafley helped the Buckeyes finish No. 2 nationally in total defense this season. Prior to joining Ohio State in 2019, Hafley served as a defensive backs coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers.
The move particularly makes sense for BC as it finished the 2019 campaign No. 125 of 130 in total defense. Hafley also has built a reputation over the years as one of the top recruiters in the country.
The formal announcement of Hafley's hiring is expected to be made soon.
Boston College is moving on from its head football coach Steve Addazio.
BC fired Addazio on Sunday, according to Yahoo Sports. Addazio spent the last seven seasons with the Eagles, fishing his tenure in Chestnut Hill with a 44-44 record.
Boston College ended its 2019 campaign 6-6, but was able to earn a 26-19 road win over Pittsburgh on Saturday. According to Yahoo, "BC brass made the move in the hopes of finding someone who can make the Eagles more competitive in the ACC."
Wide receivers coach Rich Gunnell reportedly will replace Addazio in the interim.
Addazio had signed a two-year contract extension with BC after last season.
