COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Troy trounces UMass, 52-31

TROY, Ala. -- Brandon Silvers passed for three touchdowns and ran for another and Troy converted two Massachusett's turnovers into scores to beat the Minutemen 52-31 on Saturday.

Silvers finished 26 of 36 for 245 yards, with a 5-yard TD pass to Emanuel Thompson and a 3-yard TD run to help Troy (7-1) to a 28-17 halftime lead.

After Andre Flakes recovered a Massachusett's fourth-quarter fumble on a kick off, Silvers passed to wide receiver John Johnson, who then hit Trevaris McCormick on a 16-yard TD strike for a 38-24 lead. Troy scored back-to-back TDs when Silvers hit Flakes on a 12-yard TD pass and Blace Brown picked off a pass, setting up a 7-yard TD run by Sawyer Smith.

Jordan Chunn scored on a 13-yard run and Troy outgained the Minutemen (2-8) 485-360 in total yards.

Andrew Ford threw for 316 yards for UMass, with TD strikes of 6 yards to Dan Jonah, 11 yards to Adam Breneman and 31 yards to Jalen Williams.
