Highlights from Maine's 23-18 FCS Quarterfinal win over Weber State

FINAL SCORE: No. 7 Maine 23, No. 2 Weber State 18

IN BRIEF: 2,000 miles away from campus in frigid Ogden, Utah, Maine’s vaunted “Black Hole Defense” turned up the nasty to punch the Black Bears’ first-ever appearance in the FCS semifinals.

First, Ramon Jefferson’s 45-yard touchdown run with three minutes to go should have sealed it, but the point-after kick that would have made it a nine-point game missed. But on the ensuing Weber drive, Kayon Whitaker tipped a pass at the line of scrimmage, and linebacker Jaron Grayer fell on it, for the Black Bears’ fourth interception of the night to seal the win.
