Info on Green may be announced tonight

BOSTONThere's still no word on when Boston Celtics forward Jeff Green will be cleared to play with the Celtics.

One thing is clear: Whatever is condition is, it's something that the team is taking extremely serious.

That's why the C's are getting a second opinion on his undisclosed health issue, which has prevented him from taking the floor with the team.

Coach Doc Rivers said that Green and Danny Ainge, Boston's president of basketball operations, went to see "another set of doctors" today.

Rivers declined to say where the two went, but did say he anticipates finding out today whether or not he'll have Green at the start of the season.

"They're either going to say he can or can't; one of the two, that's the way I look at it," Rivers said. "If he can't play immediately, that would make things more difficult, there's no doubt. That's why we have Sasha Pavlovic and Marquis Daniels in here, who can play the three (small forward)."

It's clear that the Celtics' primary concern right now is to pinpoint exactly what Green's health-related issue is, and how to proceed accordingly with that information.

However, that must be balanced with the reality that with or without Green, the Celtics still have a season to prepare for.

And that preparation will change if Green isn't available.

"What it would take us away from, is going small," Rivers said. "You game-plan all summer about this small lineup we're going to run with Kevin and jeff. If he doesn't, that's a month of work you have to throw away."

Rivers added, "Let's just hope he's good."
