Brady found 17-year-old combine t-shirt, recalls negative scouting report

As the NFL Scouting Combine's on-field testing got underway on Friday, Tom Brady remembered what scouts were saying about him right around this time 17 years ago.

The Patriots quarterback took to Instagram to remind his followers how he was perceived coming out of Michigan . . . and to show them that he still fits into his old combine t-shirt.

"I found my combine shirt from 17 years ago and it got me thinking," Brady wrote. "This is what they said about me then . . . Poor build, Skinny, Lacks great physical stature and strength, Lacks mobility and ability to avoid the rush, Lacks a really strong arm, Can’t drive the ball downfield, Does not throw a really tight spiral, System-type player who can get exposed if forced to ad lib, Gets knocked down easily."

Brady is the ultimate example of why testing numbers aren't the be-all-end-all for draft prospects at the combine this week. He seemed to want to pass that sentiment along to the athletes in Indianapolis, finishing off his Instagram memory with a saying from Patriots receiver Julian Edelman, who was 13 years old when Brady was going through combine drills.

"You can prove em right," he wrote, "or you can prove em wrong!"
