Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski says President beats Tom Brady at golf

Tom Brady and President Donald Trump sound like fierce competitors on the golf course.

Corey Lewandowski, who managed the president’s campaign, provided some insight into the relationship between Brady and Trump.

“Well, they’re friends,” Lewandowski told CSNNE’s Gary Tanguay during 'Tanguay Takes America.' “They’ve had a long relationship, a long friendship. I know that the president respects Tom and his competitive nature, and how good he is, because Trump loves winners, and Tom’s one of the greatest winners ever. But what I think the president also likes more than anything is that he can beat Tom at golf.”

Tanguay had a hard time believing Trump can actually beat Brady.

“Oh he does,” Lewandowski said. “He’s an excellent golfer.”

When together, Brady and Trump don’t talk politics, Lewandowski said. But Trump has dropped Brady’s name on a few different occasions during political events. Most notably, the president mentioned Brady on the eve of the election at a New Hampshire rally by announcing Brady had voted for him. Trump also read a letter penned by Bill Belichick at that same rally.

“Tom and Coach Belichick came out at the very end of the campaign, and endorsed Mr. Trump, which I thought was very nice. Bill wrote a beautiful letter,” Lewandowski said.

Brady has otherwise strayed away from politics, and avoids saying anything controversial. Tanguay pointed out that Belichick came out and supported Trump in a stronger way than Brady.

“He did, but it doesn’t matter,” Lewandowski said. “It doesn’t matter, because he’s won President of the United States.”

Brady’s got a big competition of his own to win — he’s preparing for Super Bowl LI. Lewandowski is a New Hampshire-native, and a big Patriots fan. But it sounds like he and Trump will be rooting from D.C. — Lewandowski said he didn’t think Trump would be in Houston for the Super Bowl.

“I want to see Tom Brady and the Patriots win the Super Bowl coming up,” Lewandowski said. “And I think the President might have an affinity that way, too.”
