The Patriots play their third preseason game tonight in Detroit against the Lions. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

NOTES: The Lions have a 6-2 edge over the Patriots in preseason play . . . This is the third time since 2011 that the Patriots and Lions are meeting in the third preseason game at Detroit. The Patriots lost 34-10 on Aug. 27, 2011 and 40-9 on Aug. 22, 2013.

The third preseason game is the closest thing to a regular-season event that Patriots starters will get before Week 1, so there'll be plenty of things to keep an eye on tonight when the Patriots face the Lions in Detroit.
