Patriots announce training camp dates, practice schedule

We've had an inkling as to when the Patriots will begin training camp. Every year, it's around the same time. But the team made their camp schedule official on Thursday.

Patriots veterans will report July 27, and the first public practice will occur the next day on the fields behind Gillette Stadium.

This will be the team's 57th training camp and their 14th consecutive camp at Gillette Stadium. As usual, practices are free and open to the public. Dates and times for practices beyond July 28 will be updated on Patriots.com for fans interested in attending. Fans can also call the training camp hotline (508) 549-0001 for more information.

The Patriots will host joint practices with the Saints beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Aug. 9 and 10 ahead of the 2016 preseason-opener on Aug. 11 at Gillette Stadium. The Patriots will also hold joint practices with the Bears on Aug, 15 and 16 prior to their preseason game at Gillette on Aug. 18. All four of those joint sessions will be open to the public.

The Patriots Hall of Fame induction ceremony for former running back Kevin Faulk will be held on Aug. 1 at 5 p.m. on the NRG Plaza just outside The Hall at Patriot Place. After the ceremony, the Patriots will hold their annual in-stadium practice for season-ticket holders and Foxboro residents at 7 p.m.

Ex-Pats Podcast: Patriots need to "burn the tape" after embarrassing loss to Titans

NBC Sports Boston Patriots insider Phil Perry is joined by Rob Ninkovich to break down the Patriots 34-10 Week 10 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

2:51 - "This is the worst loss in November under Bill Belichick." Phil observes that the Patriots seemed confused in the locker room after the tough loss to the Titans.

4:12 - Rob Ninkovich says that the big-picture takeaway from the loss is that the Patriots "got their ass kicked" and that they need to "take that whole day and bury it."

7:09 - Phil wonders if this team has a problem with focus based on their poor performance on the road throughout the season. Nink makes some suggestions for what the Patriots can do to mix it up and what the defense needs to do differently to get better results.

15:38 - "Did the inside knowledge the Titans had of the Patriots on their calls on the offensive line have an impact?"

22:46 - Phil and Nink discuss what Josh Gordon has brought to the team and if he's figured out the Patriots offense yet.

26:39 - Nink breaks down the failures of the Patriots defense, including the shortcomings of the pass rush and the tough day Stephon Gilmore had in the secondary.

36:25 - Ninkovich on Dion Lewis' postgame comments: "That's bulletin board material if they play the Titans again."
