The Patrtiots have acquired defensive back Eric Rowe from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a conditional draft pick, per Patriots Insider Tom E. Curran.

The news of the trade was first reported by ESPN.

Rowe is in his second NFL season, after playing in all 16 games for the Eagles as a rookie. The 2015 second-round draft pick out of the University of Utah measures in at 6-foot-1, 205 pounds, and he recorded five passes defensed in his first season as a pro

The conditional pick sent to Philadelphia is a fourth-rounder that could become a third depending on Rowe's playing time in New England.

Offensive lineman Josh Kline was originally part of the deal, but was later removed.

Kline was an undrafted free agent out of Kent in 2013 but worked his way into a crucial role last season, starting in 13 regular-season games. He was arguably the team's most consistent offensive lineman in 2015 before suffering a shoulder injury in Week 13 against the Eagles. Kline appeared to be in the running for a potential starting role to begin 2016 -- particularly with guards Shaq Mason and Jonathan Cooper dealing with injuries -- but, according to Curran, indications were that Kline might be facing his release as the team made final cuts over the weekend.
