The Patriots will wear their red throwback jerseys when they take on the Jets on Oct. 9, and that's a very good things for Patriots fans -- that is, if fans believe jerseys actually have an effect on how their team performs.

The Patriots are 7-3 all time in throwbacks, and the 1985 red jerseys that the Pats will wear against the Jets are associated with some especially spectacular performances from Tom Brady.

Of Brady's five best games of his career, two came while wearing red.

Does the color change help Brady focus in on his targets? Does the Pat Patriot logo on his teammates' helmets inspire him to bear down when opposing defenses get in his face? Probably not. But with the way the Patriots-Jets rivalry has played out lately, New England will take any potential advantage, however miniscule, it can get.
