Report: Lynch interested in playing for Patriots

One probably shouldn’t bet on seeing Marshawn Lynch in a Patriots uniform next season, but they also shouldn’t completely rule it out.

According to the Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe, Lynch has privately expressed interest in playing for New England in his attempt to come out of retirement.

Lynch, who turned 30 in April, told the Raiders recently that he intended to come out of retirement. The Seahawks still have his rights, meaning they would need to come to an agreement regarding his release, which could be tricky given that it might involve repayment of bonuses.

The former Bills back last played in the 2015 season, when he ran for 417 yards on 111 carries in a season that saw him limited to seven regular-season games by a sports hernia. He played one game that postseason, running for 20 yards on six carries in a divisional round loss to the Panthers.
