Revs acquire Sebastian Lletget in trade with Galaxy

The New England Revolution wasted no time making an offseason splash.

They acquired midfielder Sebastian Lletget in a trade with the Los Angeles Galaxy on Tuesday, The Boston Globe confirmed. Lletget is expected to fill the role of Tajon Buchanan, who joined Club Brugge in Belgium on a $7 million transfer.

Lletget has eight goals in 33 appearances for the U.S. men's national team. The 29-year-old played under current Revs head coach Bruce Arena on the USMNT, as well as on the Galaxy in 2015.

With L.A., Lletget tallied 23 goals in 155 games. He notched three goals in 26 games for the Galaxy last season.

The Revolution are looking to reload and return to form as MLS Cup contenders in 2022. Their historic 2021 campaign ended with a heartbreaking loss to NYCFC in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
