FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Diego Fagundez scored in the 55th minute and the New England Revolution earned a 1-0 victory over the New York Red Bulls on Friday night.
Juan Agudelo and Scott Caldwell assisted on the goal and the Revolution (1-1-3) earned their first win of the season.
Felipe Martins was given a red card for the Red Bulls (1-3) in the 61st minute.
Bobby Shuttleworth made five saves for New England and Luis Robles made four saves for the Red Bulls.
"You just say, `the game is still there," and to push them and they did," Red Bulls coach Jesse Marsch said. "It's obviously an incredibly frustrating moment, but we stuck with the game and we were a bit unlucky to not find a goal."
Andrew Farrell appears no worse for wear after returning to action ahead of schedule.
The New England Revolution defender is back training with the team just five weeks after rupturing his left retina during a preseason training session when a deflected ball hit him in the eye.
That's three weeks ahead of his initial April 7 return date, but Farrell says he's fully ready to go.
"It's good, all clear. 100 percent. Feel great," Farrell said earlier this week after a training session. "Happy to be back in full training with the team, being involved with the guys and looking forward to this weekend."
Farrell traveled with the team to Toronto last Sunday, and while he didn't play, there's a chance he returns this Sunday at home against FC Cincinnati.
Even if the 26-year-old doesn't see game action, he's still happy to be on the pitch ahead of schedule.
"It was crazy, because the doctor first said April 7 was the date," Farrell added. "So, we were just going in for a check up to see how it was progressing. They said the eye was looking great. They couldn't see the rupture anymore and there was limited-to-no bleeding or blood spots left. They were like, yeah we don't see why you wouldn't be able to join the group."
The Revs could use Farrell's help, as they're winless (0-2-1) through three games.
