After three straight seasons out of the playoffs, the New England Revolution can punch their second consecutive postseason ticket Wednesday night when they travel to Harrison, N.J. to take on the New York Red Bulls.
Here are New England's playoff-clinching scenarios:
- Revs clinch a playoff berth with a win or draw against the Red Bulls
- Revs clinch a playoff berth with an Inter Miami CF loss or draw against FC Dallas
The Revolution will look to continue recent success against New York, carrying a 2-0-2 record against the Red Bulls since the start of the 2019 seaon into tonight's contest, including a come-from-behind 1-1 draw at Gillette Stadium this summer.
Another factor working in the Revs' favor is their success away from home this season. With a 6-2-3 record outside Foxboro (including neutral-site games in the MLS is Back Tournament), the Revs are unbeaten in their last four road games (3-1-0) and can set a new club record with a seventh win away from home.
Wednesday night's match should also be a big night for Diego Fagundez, who is poised to tie Shalrie Joseph's Revolution record with 261 regular-season games played.
