Quarantine Scenes: Gary Tanguay, DJ Bean re-create classic ‘A League of Their Own' scene

Feeling restless during quarantine, the dream team of Gary Tanguay, DJ Bean and director Adam Hart (Mall Walkers, Scootin'), decided to recreate classic movie scenes from their homes and stitch them together.

"A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN"

DJ Bean: This was maybe the fourth one we did, and it took forever because I was secretly very self-conscious about it and therefore kept putting it off.

One of the other ones we did involved a lot of yelling, but it was indoors. For this one, I had to go in the backyard and scream a bunch on a relatively quiet street, making it very clear to my neighbors that for some reason I was yelling Tom Hanks' lines from "A League of Their Own."

It wasn't going to create a "what is he doing?" moment — as it was very clear what I was doing. It was going to create a "why is he yelling Tom Hanks' lines from 'A League of Their Own?'" moment. I kept putting it off and putting it off. One day I woke up to a stern text from Gary, so I did it.

Gary Tanguay: DJ's "Are you crying? There's no crying in baseball!" is hilarious. What's more hilarious is he was worried about waking the neighbors.

Nomination for best supporting actress for Trenni. She plays a great Doris.

Adam Hart: We considered the Marla Hooch "It Had To Be You" scene, but we had to go with one of the most iconic lines to come out of 90s cinema. We were hounding DJ to record his Hanx scenes for weeks, but he kept putting it off.

When he eventually got over his hangups, he knocked it out of the park. The challenge we took on was recording these scenes individually and stitching them together. Gary has his kids to rely on to man the camera (iPhone), and DJ gave us a little something extra by changing the camera angles.

Initially we cut the Doris interjection from the script. But it's such a good moment, we found a way to make it work. Don't sleep on that Trenni cameo!
