Fantasy football rankings 2019: Top 15 kickers to target in your draft

Share

There are a few positions fantasy football owners often fail to do enough research on before their league’s draft -- don’t let kicker be one of them!

Kickers obviously aren’t the most important position in fantasy football, but points earned from 40- and 50-yard field goals can make a real difference each week, particularly in head-to-head leagues.

Let’s take a look at the top 15 kickers to target in your fantasy football draft.

TIER 1

1. Harrison Butker, Kansas City Chiefs (Bye Week: 12)
The Chiefs led the NFL in scoring last season and attempted a league-high 69 extra points. Butker made 65 of them, and he also hit on 24 of 27 field goal attempts while going 6-for-7 from 40-49 yards out.

2. Will Lutz, New Orleans Saints (Week 9)
Lutz is one of the most accurate kickers in the league for a Saints offense that scored the third-most points in the league last season. In 2018, he converted on 28 of 30 field goal attempts for the fifth-best accuracy rating in the league. Lutz also hit on 13 of 15 attempts from 40 yards and beyond.

3. Robbie Gould, San Francisco 49ers (Week 4)
Gould led the NFL in field goal percentage (33-for-34) last season, including a 9-for-10 mark on 40-49 yard field goals and a 2-for-2 showing on attempts 50-plus yards in distance. He’s the safest choice among all fantasy kickers.

4. Justin Tucker, Baltimore Ravens (Week 8)
Tucker has been among the most reliable fantasy kickers for several years. He went 35-for-39 on field goal attempts last season, including a 9-for-11 performance on attempts 40-49 yards out and a 5-for-7 mark on 50-plus yard field goals. Tucker also made 36 of his 37 extra point attempts.

5. Greg Zuerlein, Los Angeles Rams (Week 9)
Zuerlein made 27 of 31 field goal attempts and 35 of 36 extra point attempts in 2018. He also converted on eight of 12 field goals from 40-plus yards out, including a 4-for-6 mark on attempts from 50 yards or more. The Rams scored the second-most points in the league last season, so Zuerlein should have plenty of opportunity to produce fantasy points.

TIER 2

6. Michael Badgley, Los Angeles Chargers (Week 12)
Badgley fixed the Chargers" longtime kicking woes by hitting 15 of 16 field goal attempts, including a perfect 14-for-14 mark on attempts shorter than 50 yards. He should again be a reliable fantasy kicker for one of the league’s top 10 scoring offenses.

7. Stephen Gostkowski, New England Patriots (Week 10)
Gostkowski hit on 49 of his 50 extra-point attempts, and he was a perfect 21-for-21 on field goals from 20 to 39 yards. His only issue was long-distance accuracy  — 6-for-11 on field goal attempts 40 yards and further.

8. Mason Crosby, Green Bay Packers (Week 11)
Crosby was 30-for-37 on field goals last year, which isn’t the most ideal percentage, but he was accurate from long distance. He converted on five of his seven attempts from 50 yards and beyond.

9. Ka'imi Fairbairn, Houston Texans (Week 10)
Fairbairn was a perfect 20-for-20 on field goals under 40 yards and converted on 39 of 41 PATs. He also hit four of his six field goal tries from 50 or more yards.

10. Brett Maher, Dallas Cowboys (Week 8)
Maher went 29-for-36 overall on field goal attempts in 2018, but he was an impressive 6-for-7 on attempts from 50 yards and further. He was one of only two kickers to hit six field goals of 50-plus yards. Maher also benefits from the ideal weather conditions inside AT&T Stadium.

TIER 3

11. Jake Elliott, Philadelphia Eagles (Week 10)

12. Adam Vinatieri, Indianapolis Colts (Week 6)

13. Matt Prater, Detroit Lions (Week 5)

14. Graham Gano, Carolina Panthers (Week 7)

15. Dan Bailey, Minnesota Vikings (Week 12)
