20 Under 25: Isaiah Wynn the great unknown for Patriots offensive line

Share

A primary piece of this 20 Under 25 exercise is projecting where these young players we’ve seen can go from what we’ve seen so far. But what if we haven’t really seen them?

The Patriots drafted Isaiah Wynn 23rd overall after Nate Solder left in free agency. Given his 6-foot-3 frame, there were questions as to whether he would be better as a guard than a tackle. The team had a need at left tackle, but that ended up being filled by Trent Brown while Wynn missed his entire rookie season with an Achilles tear.

Now here we are one year later. For the second straight offseason, the Pats lost their starter at left tackle to a big free agent contract. The job is there for him to take, though he could end up at guard if the Patriots opt to have Joe Thuney protect Tom Brady’s blindside.

Offensive linemen are hardly the most exciting players to discuss, but there may not be a more intriguing player on this list. A lot rides on what Wynn becomes.
