Mac Jones reveals why he wanted Patriots to draft him

Mac Jones really wanted to be taken by the New England Patriots in the 2021 NFL Draft, and on Thursday night he revealed why.

"Honestly, New England's just a great place," Jones said in a Zoom call with reporters. "In watching them the past years, they do everything right. It's all about the team. That's kind of what I grew up knowing is being a good teammate and then obviously winning it comes down to winning football games and New England's done that, but they don't look in the past, they just look in the future.

"So we got to just focus on trying to win games and then take it day by day and eventually you'll win a lot of games. So, I'm just looking forward to getting in there and meeting my new teammates and seeing what happens from there.

The Patriots selected the Alabama quarterback with the No. 15 overall pick in the first round.

There were a lot of reports and rumors over the last few months about whether the Patriots might trade up in Round 1 to take a quarterback, but in the end, they didn't have to make that deal.

Jones is a smart, accurate passer who is among the most NFL-ready offensive players in the 2021 draft class. He completed 77.4 percent of his passes for 4,500 yards with 41 touchdowns and just four interceptions for Alabama last season en route to a national title.
