Stephen A. Zappala Jr., the district attorney for Allegheny County in Pennsylvania, plans to review the rape and sexual assault allegations made against New England Patriots wide receiver Antonio Brown in a lawsuit filed Tuesday in Florida.

The lawsuit against Brown was filed by his former trainer, Britney Taylor. Brown, in a statement through his lawyer, has denied the allegations. He reportedly intends to countersue Taylor as well.

Zappala's jurisdiction includes Pittsburgh. One of the three incidents that led to allegations against Brown allegedly occurred in Pittsburgh. Brown played the first nine seasons of his NFL career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who traded him to the Oakland Raiders back in March.

The Patriots reportedly were surprised by the lawsuit. The team released a brief statement Tuesday night, in which it said the league was conducting an investigation.

Brown practiced Wednesday for the first time as a member of the Patriots. His contract with the team was officially announced Monday.
