What a run it was for the dynamic duo of Rob Gronkowski and Tom Brady.
Gronk, who announced his retirement on Sunday, had been Brady's favorite target since the Patriots tight end came to New England in 2010. It goes without saying that the Brady-to-Gronk connection will go down as one of the best in NFL history, but one stat really puts their dominance in perspective.
Since 2006, no quarterback-to-receiver duo has a better passer rating than Brady-to-Gronk, which has a stunning rating of 129.6.
Rob Gronkowski's retirement has us saying goodbye to one of the best to ever do it. Since 2006, no QB-receiver combination has seen the success that Tom Brady to Gronk saw.https://t.co/iG3tB7Vy3i pic.twitter.com/rRGrCU5kOZ— PFF (@PFF) March 26, 2019
As if Gronkowski needed another stat to make his case as a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
With Gronk gone, Brady and the Patriots are in a tough position heading into the 2019 season. As of now, the tight end depth chart consists of Matt LaCosse, Jacob Hollister, Stephen Anderson and Ryan Izzo.
