As if Jimmy Garoppolo didn't do enough damage to the pick the Patriots acquired for him, the Pats got more bad news Friday.
With the Raiders and 49ers tied in the standings, a coin toss was determined to see who would pick ninth or 10th overall. The 49ers won, which means they would get the higher first-round pick, but it also meant the Raiders would pick higher in the second round. That means the Raiders will pick 41st, while the Patriots, who own the 49ers' second-rounder from the Garoppolo trade, will pick 43rd.
The Patriots now own picks Nos. 31, 43 and 63 over the first two rounds.
Troy Brown talks about his former Patriots teammate Junior Seau and his battle on mental health issues that led to Seau's suicide in 2012. Watch the video above for more.
A new name has popped up on the Patriots injury report. And it's a big one.
Rob Gronkowski has been added with an ankle injury. He was one of six players listed as having limited participation in practice on Thursday. The big tight end didn't appear to get hurt in last week's loss in Jacksonville, so maybe the injury occurred in practice the past few days.
Safety Patrick Chung and defensive end Trey Flowers, who each had concussions against the Jags, were again both absent from practice. So, seeing them on the field Sunday night in Detroit against the Lions appears unlikely.
Here's the complete injury report:
