FOXBORO -- The Patriots didn't practice on Wednesday, but if they had Rob Gronkowski wouldn't have been out there.
The All-Pro tight end was diagnosed with a concussion following the AFC title game, which he left in the second quarter after taking a helmet-to-helmet shot from safety Barry Church, and is in the NFL's concussion protocol.

Earlier today, we laid out the five-step process that Gronkowski will have to navigate before being cleared for full participation. Until he's cleared by a team physician and an independent neurological consultant, he will not be able to play in Super Bowl LII.
Patriots rookie defensive lineman Deatrich Wise was also diagnosed with a concussion, though he was on the field for Jacksonville's final snap of the game in the conference final. Like Gronkowski, Wise also would've been listed as a non-participant if the Patriots practiced on Wednesday.
Patriots defensive tackle Malcom Brown, who was instrumental in helping to hold the Jags to 3.2 yards per carry, popped up on the injury report with a foot issue. He was not on the injury report last week.
