Devin McCourty on Patrick Mahomes: ‘That's a bad dude right there'

Patrick Mahomes has raised eyebrows all season long.

The likely 2018 NFL MVP continued his spectacular season with a solid performance in Sunday night's AFC Championship Game. While Mahomes couldn't quite do enough to lead the Chiefs to the Super Bowl, his effort did not go unnoticed.

Monday on Quick Slants, Devin McCourty talked to NBC Sports Boston's Tom Giles about Mahomes' unique ability and what it took for the Patriots defense to limit him.

"That's a bad dude right there, man," McCourty said. "Just his ability to make plays happen, never got rattled in the game. I mean they really couldn't get anything going in the first half and you could sense, like, he was never rattled. I mean even a couple of the plays he made -- we said going into this game as a defense we wanted them to make plays where we had to just be like [shrug] 'they got it'. He's rolling one way, throws across [his body] and I mean, I guess it's not like a huge play because we've seen him do it over and over again this year, but we know how tough that is and we was like 'man, make them make those plays and beat us all game' and obviously they made some of them, but we were able to make enough to win."

McCourty isn't the only Patriots player to talk about just how great Mahomes is. Tom Brady pulled Mahomes aside after the game, and then called the 23-year-old "spectacular"
