Devin McCourty ties Patriots record with interception in fourth straight game

From his fiery pregame speeches to his consistent performance on the field, Devin McCourty's leadership has been on display for the Patriots for years. And now he's off to one of the best defensive starts in team history.

McCourty intercepted Josh Allen in the first quarter Sunday, marking his fourth straight game with an interception, tying a team record set by Mike Haynes back in 1976.

As ESPN's Field Yates notes, McCourty is the first player to record an interception in each of the first four games of a season since Minnesota's Brian Russell in 2003.

Unbelievably, McCourty has also equaled his entire interception total from the last four regular seasons combined. McCourty had one pick in each of the last four seasons, spanning a total of 62 games.

His four picks are his most in a season since 2012, when he had five — and he's just one off the NFL record for most interceptions in the first four games of a season, a record shared by 17 players.
