Did Bill Belichick troll Colts with reaction to Andrew Luck retirement?

Unless you've been living under a rock, you probably heard Andrew Luck retired this weekend.

Bill Belichick apparently has been living under a rock.

The New England Patriots coach was asked about Luck's shocking announcement Saturday night that he's retiring from the Indianapolis Colts at 29. Here's Belichick's response, per our own Phil Perry:

Good player. I didn't see that. I haven't really followed them. We all have to make our decisions. He made his. I respect it.

We know Belichick isn't on MyFace, but it takes serious guts to claim you're unaware of a four-time Pro Bowl quarterback's sudden departure from your AFC rival.

The Patriots coach then twisted the knife by adding he "(hasn't) really followed" the Colts, a ruthless remark considering Indy was projected to be an AFC contender this season if Luck could stay healthy.

Perhaps this is Belichick's way of mocking Colts general manager Chris Ballard for declaring the Patriots-Colts rivalry "back on" after Josh McDaniels spurned Indy in February 2018.

Regardless of intention, Belichick's dismissive reaction to Luck's retirement proves that literally nothing can ruffle his feathers as he prepares the Patriots to defend their sixth Super Bowl title.
