Does Kyle Van Noy REALLY think the Patriots are underappreciated?

Kyle Van Noy has a bone to pick with, well, everyone. Our weekly Quick Slants guest said after Sunday’s game that he’s tired of the Patriots being underappreciated.

“I just want respect. I feel underrated and just want some respect,” he said. “We just got really good football players. Maybe people will start noticing that.”

Monday, Van Noy and I sat down at the Patriots Hall of Fame and we tried to hash it out. Because, where I’m sitting, I’m not hearing a lot of people underselling the Patriots defense in 2019.

“I feel like we have some really, really good players,” Van Noy points out on the Quick Slants episode which airs tonight at 6 p.m. “Elite players on this defense. That’s all. It’s September still we’ll talk about that as the season goes on.”

I asked if maybe the fact the Patriots won the Super Bowl last year but had just two Pro Bowl players (Tom Brady and Stephon Gilmore) was a contributing factor to his perception. “Good question,” Van Noy replied. “Isn’t that crazy?”
