Drug charges against Patriots' Patrick Chung conditionally dismissed

Drug charges against New England Patriots safety Patrick Chung stemming from a June incident at his home in New Hampshire have been conditionally dismissed, Belknap County Attorney Andrew Livernois announced Monday.

Livernois' statement says the parties involved have agreed to resolve the charges under several conditions. Those conditions include good behavior, periodic drug testing and 40 hours of community service. The statement also notes several factors that led to the state agreeing to this resolution, including Chung not having a prior criminal record, as well as his full cooperation with police on the day of the incident.

Here is the full statement with a detailed explanation of the terms, via ESPN's Adam Schefter:

Chung was charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug, a class B felony, in August. Police found cocaine at his home in Meredith, N.H., when they showed up to the residence after a call for service. Chung was never arrested by police.

The 32-year-old safety has not been disciplined (at least not at this point) by the Patriots or the NFL for what happened in New Hampshire.

Chung just completed his 10th season as a member of the Patriots. He suffered a broken arm in Super Bowl LIII but was able to return for the team's Week 1 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Chung missed three games in October due to injury but played the rest of the 2019 campaign. He left the Patriots' AFC Wild Card playoff game to the Tennessee Titans with an injury in the second quarter and didn't return.
