Eagles coaches re-watched Super Bowl LII in scouting for Patriots matchup

The Philadelphia Eagles will host the New England Patriots at Lincoln Financial Field in the most anticipated game of the Week 11 slate, and their coaching staff re-watched the greatest victory in franchise history as part of its scouting for Sunday's matchup.

Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz told reporters Monday that during the Week 10 bye Eagles coaches watched the film of their Super Bowl LII triumph over the Patriots, which was the last meeting between these teams.

How much will the Eagles take from that game?

Well, both teams' rosters have undergone lots of changes since that night in Minneapolis, and the Patriots were without one of their most valuable players in wide receiver Julian Edelman, who returned from injury in 2018 and won Super Bowl LIII MVP when New England beat the Los Angeles Rams. Still, several of the key players from that Super Bowl, including quarterback Tom Brady, remain an important part of the Patriots' success in 2019.

Brady and the Patriots scored 34 points against the Eagles in Super Bowl LII, including a Super Bowl record 505 passing yards by the legendary quarterback. The Patriots should be able to achieve plenty of success through the air again Sunday versus a weak Eagles secondary that has struggled throughout the season and lacks a shutdown cornerback.

Oddsmakers like the Patriots' chances of leaving Philly with a win -- New England has opened as 3.5-point road favorites.
