Early Patriots vs. Chiefs weather forecast calls for arctic blast at Arrowhead Stadium

Simply saying the weather will be cold at Arrowhead Stadium for Sunday's AFC Championship Game between the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots would be quite an understatement.

An "arctic blast" could be in the area, dropping temperatures down into the single digits. That sounds terrifying, even for people who live in areas where frigid weather is common at this time of the year.

Here's the latest forecast for game time, which is 6:40 p.m. ET.

We're still almost a week away from Sunday's clash, so the weather could be warmer by kickoff. What we do know is it's going to be very, very cold for this game, and that could benefit the Patriots.

New England beat the Los Angeles Chargers in the AFC Divisional Round at Gillette Stadium on Sunday in weather where the temperature was less than 30 degrees. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady improved his record in weather under 30 degrees to 24-4, and winning bad-weather playoff games is a huge part of his legend.

The Chiefs, to their credit, had little trouble beating the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Divisional Round last Saturday in weather that was cold and snowy. So, while the weather might not be a huge disadvantage to either team, it definitely could make things much tougher for both sides.
