Chris Hogan is back in New England and ready to take the field again at Gillette Stadium.

The ex-Patriots wide receiver made Premier League Lacrosse's Boston Cannons roster and is set to make his PLL debut Friday.

Hogan starred in lacrosse during his time at Penn State, posting a team-high 29 goals during his junior season. After nine NFL seasons -- three in New England -- the 33-year-old is excited to turn back the clock and return to Boston.

"I'm grateful to coach [Sean] Quirk and the Cannons coaching staff for taking a chance on someone who hasn't played this sport in such a long time," Hogan said via ESPN.com. It's a tremendous opportunity, and I'm very thankful to have the chance to compete with these guys. These are the best lacrosse players in the world. To be able to make the 25-man roster, I think back to my days when I was on the bubble of getting cut [in the NFL], and that feeling. I certainly had it [Tuesday] night."

The two-time Super Bowl champion last played in the NFL in 2020 with the New York Jets. He went undrafted in February's Premier Lacrosse League entry draft before being acquired by the Cannons.

Hogan and the Cannons will begin their season Friday against the Redwoods Lacrosse Club in Foxboro. The matchup will be streamed on Peacock starting at 7 p.m. ET.
