A night that started with a celebration, a Gronk sighting, and a sixth Super Bowl banner ended with another celebration and a complete annihilation of the Steelers at Gillette Stadium. Here's what happened in the Patriots' Week 1 rout.

DOUBLING THEIR PLEASURE

Josh McDaniels breaks out a trick play less than 10 minutes into the Patriots' first game, as Julian Edelman executes the double pass perfectly, firing back across the field to James White for a gain of 32 yards.

FLASH FORWARD

On the very next play, Josh Gordon catches a short pass on a crossing route over the middle, breaks tackles inside the 10 and waltzes into the end zone for New England's first score of the season.

FIRST THINGS FIRST

Jakobi Meyers makes his first career NFL reception, picking up 22 yards on this catch after bouncing off a Steeler defender to pick up a few extra yards.

GETTING THEIR PHIL

Tom Brady completes a 6-play, 80-yard drive with a 25-yard TD strike to Phillip Dorsett. Brady goes 4-for-4 for 73 yards on the drive.

GOOD, BUT NOT GOOD ENOUGH

Finally, some good news for Pittsburgh: James Washington makes a nifty grab for 45 yards. (Bad news for Pittsburgh: the drive stalls inside the 5 and Mike Tomlin inexplicably calls for a field goal on 4th & goal from the 1 when trailing 20-0.)

PITTSBURGH'S IN DEEP -- VERY DEEP -- TROUBLE

In his 58th career game, Phillip Dorsett has his first career multi-TD game, hauling in a 58-yard deep ball from Brady to make the score 27-3.

UNDER PRESSURE? NAH...

The Steelers tried to blitz Tom Brady throughout the game. The problem for "Blitz-burgh"? Brady kept picking them apart and making the Steelers defense pay.
