Jimmy Garoppolo tops Brady in jersey sales

Jimmy Garoppolo has a long way to go before surpassing Tom Brady for any on-field accomplishments. Off the gridiron, however, Garoppolo finds himself ahead of the five-time Super Bowl champion.

At least in one metric.

According to NFLShop.com, Garoppolo has the second-highest selling jersey in the NFL between April 1 and June 23, the league’s most recent update.

Brady, on the other hand, ranks fourth, with Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz in between the two former teammates.

Garoppolo was drafted by New England in the second round of the 2014 draft, serving as Brady’s backup until this past October when he was traded to the 49ers for a second round pick. After taking over as the starter, Garoppolo guided San Francisco to a 5-0 record and inked a 5-year contract worth up to $137.5 million this offseason.

While the 26-year-old holds the edge on the NFL’s list, Brady is fifth on Dick’s Sporting Goods list of highest-selling jerseys over the last 30 days compared to Garoppolo’s 65th.

Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski ranks 23rd on the NFLShop.com list and 17th on the Dick’s Sporting Goods chart.

New York Giants rookie running back Saquon Barkley tops both lists after being selected second overall in April’s draft.
