Joe Burrow's record-breaking season for LSU has fitting Tom Brady connection

There's always a Tom Brady connection, folks.

Joe Burrow threw five touchdown passes Monday night to help LSU defeat Clemson, 42-25, in the College Football Playoff national championship game.

That gave Burrow 60 touchdown passes on the season, breaking Colt Brennan's single-season TD pass record of 58. Burrow's record-breaking strike came to LSU tight end Thaddeus Moss, the son of NFL legend Randy Moss.

... And that's where Brady comes in.

Brady set the NFL's single-season passing touchdowns record in Week 17 of the New England Patriots' undefeated 2007 regular season, when he threw a 65-yard bomb to none other than Randy Moss for his 50th passing TD.

Are we surprised that the Moss family has a knack for making big plays?

Thaddeus finished with five catches for 36 yards and scored two touchdowns, much to the delight of his father Randy, who was at Mercedez-Benz Superdome decked out in LSU gear.

Thaddeus also accomplished something his father never could by winning a championship, as Randy's 2007 Patriots lost to the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII.

Coincidentally, Randy also lost a Super Bowl with the 2012 San Francisco 49ers at that same Superdome, making LSU's win Monday that much sweeter for the Moss clan.

"It's crazy how everything comes full circle," Thaddeus said after the game, via ESPN.com. "That was his last football game, he lost the Super Bowl here, and I was able to win a national championship here and have a big game."
