Josh Gordon trade to Patriots official

Bill Belichick can finally talk about it

While the league has been abuzz with the news of Josh Gordon's trade to New England, it wasn't official until Tuesday afternoon. According to the NFL's transaction wire, Gordon is now an official Patriot.

While it was all but official as of yesterday, Gordon still needed to come to Foxboro and pass his physical. He has now done that, meaning that a hamstring issue, if it exists, is minor enough that the trade can go through. This also presumably means that there's no secret test that Gordon failed and no one knows about it; the trade wouldn't have gone through if that was the case.

Giving up a fifth-round pick in exchange for Gordon could be Belichick's greatest heist since the Randy Moss trade... or Gordon could be cut by the end of September. At this point, it's just up to Gordon

It seems unlikely that Gordon plays on Sunday Night Football against the Lions this week, given the amount of time he has to acclimate to his new team and playbook, but we'll have to wait and see about that.

Now that any doubt has been eliminated about the trade, we can all go back to daydreaming about the Brady to Gordon connection that could bring the team another Super Bowl victory.
